About SBIOA

The State Bank of India Officers’ Association (SBIOA Chandigarh Circle) came into existence in the year 1979 after the formation of the Chandigarh Circle from the erstwhile Delhi Circle. The Association was registered at Chandigarh under Registration No. 186/79 in accordance with the Trade Unions Act, 1927.
The Association was led by Comrade N. L. Sikka as its first President and Comrade N. S. Dhamoon as its first General Secretary. Since its inception, the Association has continued to grow in strength, purpose, and commitment.

The Chandigarh Circle Association is proud to be an affiliate of the All India State Bank Officers’ Federation (AISBOF), a pioneering organization in the officers’ trade union movement in the country.

AISBOF – All India State Bank Officers’ Federation

AISBOF was founded in the year 1969 and represents more than 80,000 officers of the State Bank of India across India. The officers’ movement under AISBOF stands as a story of dedication, struggle, sacrifice, and inspiration for professionals, supervisors, managers, and executives, including those not covered under the Industrial Disputes Act.

AIBOC – All India Bank Officers’ Confederation

AISBOF is affiliated to the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation, the largest officers’ trade union in the world, representing more than 3,20,000 officers of the banking industry.

Our Association at Present

At present, the Chandigarh Circle Association is a vibrant and committed organization with a membership of more than 8,000 officers. The Association is led by Comrade Rajiv Sirhindi as President and Comrade Priyvrat as General Secretary.

The Association works with a strong sense of responsibility towards the welfare of its members as well as the interests of the organization, guided by its proud slogan:
“SBIOA Zindabad – SBI Zindabad.”

Member Welfare & Activities

The official magazine of SBIOA, titled “Bank Officers’ Mail”, is widely appreciated by members for its informative and relevant content.

The monthly subscription for organisational activities is ₹100 per member. In addition, members contribute ₹100 per month towards the Benevolent Fund. From this fund, an amount of ₹4 lakhs is immediately provided to the family of an officer in the unfortunate event of demise.

The Association maintains guest houses at Shimla, Chandigarh, Manali, Jammu, Amritsar, Patiala, and Dharamshala for the use of its members.

Retired colleagues are honoured with a memento of ₹11,000 as a mark of respect and gratitude for their service.

Our mission is to carry forward the legacy of an exemplary SBI Officers’ Union Movement by uniting, protecting, and supporting committed members. We strive to facilitate the growth and development of quality banking professionals, act as a responsible trustee in supporting the Bank amidst changing economic scenarios, and provide guidance and counsel to stakeholders. We remain committed to continuous improvement through education, learning, and awareness, while upholding values that are noble, just, and praiseworthy for the Bank, the movement, and the nation.
We are committed to organisational excellence through strong circle-level autonomy combined with federation-wide unity. Our values are rooted in a deep sense of belonging, collective responsibility, and apolitical, internally guided leadership. We uphold respect for human dignity, sincerity in action, professional integrity, and dedication to the Bank. Continuous training, development, and upgradation of knowledge remain central to our approach, along with zero tolerance towards corruption in any form.
